The Venezuela migration that affected Peru during the Pandemic

The migration that has been experienced since 2020 during the Pandemic is an exaggeration for those from Latin American and Caribbean countries, the statistics of people entering different countries is chaos in the last decade, these migrations are characterized by migratory flows, be it for political reasons, economic and environmental reasons. .

Peru is the second country that hosts the largest number of Venezuelan refugees worldwide, until July 2022 Peru has received around 1.29 million Venezuelans, either legally or illegally, focusing on the time of the COVID-19 pandemic, migrants were already vulnerable, since many of them had needs and lacked social protection, and they themselves were exposed to abuse, ill-treatment and exploitation, often having to live, work and at the same time or survive in another country without have no help in between. The COVID-19 pandemic made this situation that had been going on for a long time even worse, with Venezuelans who did not have a job or a place to live to protect themselves from this virus that was attacking the world. If Venezuelans arrived here with nothing from their own country, arriving in a country where you don't know anyone, with many fears and things that you leave behind in your other life, is very serious, since you also arrive with a pandemic on your shoulder in the one where everything goes wrong and no improvement is seen in the short term. Many of the Venezuelans who arrived illegally during the pandemic were made invisible, since many of them took advantage of this situation to settle in many countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, in this case Peru did it in one way or another. Not knowing the arrival of Venezuelan migrants, many Venezuelans were left in the air, in Peru during the Pandemic 33% of people were left without any job, between Venezuelans and Peruvians, this made many people tend to live from day to day a day. day exposing himself in a dangerous way during quarantine. The Peruvian State, although it is true, helped a lot to the integration of Venezuelans so that, even if it was, they had education and temporary work, but this was still a very precarious situation. The Peruvian government provided little humanitarian assistance to Venezuelan communities. In order to evade humanitarian responsibilities, Peru had those responsibilities assumed by international organizations, in this case the United Nations system.

Since Peru did that, in terms of United Nations aid during the Pandemic, there has been great progress and many notable achievements in the new forms of integration into Peruvian society with strategies that were accepted by the government itself. but with the passage of time, Peru has been protecting itself, since since the Pandemic in mid-2021 and until now they have been militarizing the borders in order to control migration, this being the most intelligent and appropriate strategy to stop migration towards our country. According to the State, the consequences that have occurred during this event are serious. We believe that the best way to solve this is by expanding and creating better strategies with international organizations that can help us as a country, since we are also experiencing a crisis that grew even more during the Pandemic.
